South Sea pearls

The South Sea is the largest and most precious of cultured pearls. It grows in the Pinctada maxima with a slowness that builds it a considerable thickness of mother-of-pearl: from there comes its light, deep and warm, distinct from the sharp reflection of the Akoya.

MIMÍ chooses its white South Sea pearls directly in Australia and its gold South Sea pearls in the South Seas, pairing their native colours, from satin white to gold. The strands are hand-knotted on silk, pearl after pearl, and each carries an individual code that acknowledges its uniqueness.
