Akoya pearls

The Akoya is the Japanese pearl, and its lustre remains the sharpest and most mirror-like a pearl can achieve. It grows cultured in the Pinctada fucata, in the cold waters of Japan, where the slowness of its formation builds a compact surface and a limpid mirror.
